Marmoush double helps Manchester City beat Atletico Madrid in Seoul

Manchester City ended its Asian tour with a 3-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in Seoul. Omar Marmoush scored twice during a rapid second-half comeback.
Atletico had led at halftime through Santiago Dominguez. Rayan Ait-Nouri added City’s third goal near the end of the match.
Both teams created chances before Atletico scored
The friendly took place at Seoul World Cup Stadium in front of 50,078 spectators. City controlled long spells but Atletico remained dangerous during quick attacks. Pep Guardiola selected a strong group for the final match of the tour. The lineup mixed established players with summer additions needing more shared minutes. Atletico defended compactly and waited for openings. That approach limited City’s early shots even when the English side held more of the ball. Santiago Dominguez broke the deadlock in the forty-third minute. His finish gave Atletico a 1-0 advantage shortly before halftime.
City returned with faster movement between midfield and attack. Antoine Semenyo found more space and began carrying the ball toward Atletico’s back line. Marmoush levelled in the fifty-seventh minute. Semenyo supplied the assist after City moved the ball quickly into the final third. The equaliser changed the match immediately. Atletico had little time to reset before City attacked the same spaces again. Guardiola’s side kept players close to Marmoush instead of leaving him isolated. That support allowed another decisive move only two minutes later.
Marmoush completed his double within two minutes
Marmoush scored again in the fifty-ninth minute. Semenyo provided his second assist as City turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. The two finishes rewarded direct runs behind Atletico’s defenders. City did not need a long passing sequence after regaining the ball. Marmoush scored his two goals from different positions. He first attacked the central space, then adjusted his position during the next transition. Atletico responded with substitutions and a higher line. City continued finding space because the Spanish side now needed an equaliser.
Atletico pushed forward during the final section but could not beat City’s goalkeeper again. The English side protected the central area more effectively. Rayan Ait-Nouri joined a late attack in the ninetieth minute. His finish placed two goals between the teams and ended any remaining doubt. The goal gave City three different attacking contributions beyond Marmoush. Semenyo had supplied two assists, while Ait-Nouri completed the score himself. Atletico’s only goal remained Dominguez’s first-half strike. City won the second half 3-0 after changing the speed of its attacks.
The Seoul match completed Manchester City’s Asian pre-season tour
City had also faced Inter and a K League selection during the trip. The tour provided matches in different conditions before the English season. Travel and humidity added physical demands beyond the ninety minutes. Guardiola distributed playing time while still selecting competitive teams for each event.
The Atletico match supplied the clearest comeback of the tour. City answered a halftime deficit without relying on a penalty or an own goal. More than fifty thousand spectators saw the final fixture. The large crowd also continued City’s commercial and supporter programme across Asia.
Manchester City next play Arsenal in the Community Shield
Manchester City now turns toward the Community Shield against Arsenal. That match will carry a trophy and normal competitive consequences. The Seoul friendly ended with Marmoush scoring twice and Semenyo supplying two assists. Marmoush finished chances and Semenyo created two goals.

City also improved after conceding rather than allowing the first goal to shape the whole match. The second-half response was controlled and efficient. Atletico leaves with a strong first half and a difficult two-minute period. City’s rapid double changed the contest before Ait-Nouri confirmed the 3-1 result.
Semenyo assisted both of Marmoush’s goals
Semenyo’s two assists arrived only two minutes apart. He recognised the same open area before Atletico had reorganised after the equaliser. The first pass gave Marmoush a direct finish. The second move again placed the forward ahead of the closest defender during City’s strongest spell.
Assists explain Semenyo’s influence more accurately than general praise. Both recorded contributions directly changed the score from a deficit into a lead.
