Ryan McAidoo and Savinho combined well during the strongest City period. Savinho also drove inside for a left-footed shot. The attempt missed, but City maintained pressure around the area.
Inter’s new group struggled to keep long spells of possession. The defensive line still protected goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. City’s territorial control therefore produced no second goal.
Provedel protected the draw during the closing minutes
Ait-Nouri created the last major chance near the end. He escaped on the left and crossed toward McAidoo. The young attacker arrived from the opposite side of the pitch.
Provedel read the move and prevented a finish at the far post. Inter then managed the remaining moments without a serious mistake. The match went directly to penalties after the final whistle.
