Indonesia beat Laos 5-0 to retain the AFF Women’s Cup

Indonesia defeated Laos 5-0 in the AFF Women’s Cup final. Sydney Hopper opened the scoring in the thirty-third minute. Four further goals completed a clear title defence.

The victory gives Indonesia consecutive titles after winning the first edition in 2024. Four different players scored after Hopper’s first-half opener.

Hopper scores the first goal

The first half remained scoreless for more than thirty minutes. Laos protected central space and tried to keep Indonesia away from clear shooting positions. Indonesia continued moving the ball around the defensive line.

Hopper provided the breakthrough in the thirty-third minute. Her finish separated the teams at halftime. Indonesia then scored four goals after the break.

Indonesia carried the lead into the interval. That advantage allowed the team to avoid rushed attacks. Laos had to balance recovery with the risk of conceding again.

The opening goal remains the key first-half event. It rewarded Indonesia’s control without ending the contest immediately. The larger score developed after the break.

Indonesia score four times after half-time

Isabelle Nottet doubled the lead in the forty-eighth minute. Estella Loupatty added the third seven minutes later.

Felicia de Zeeuw scored Indonesia’s fourth goal in the sixty-seventh minute. Emily Nahon completed the result after eighty-three minutes.

The four second-half goals came from four different players. Indonesia also protected a clean sheet through the final whistle.

The score was 1-0 at half-time and 3-0 after fifty-five minutes. Two later finishes completed the 5-0 result.

The champions repeat their 2024 success

Indonesia won the inaugural AFF Women’s Cup in 2024. The 5-0 final victory secured a second consecutive tournament title.

Satoru Mochizuki remained the head coach. His starting team included Hopper, Loupatty, Nottet, de Zeeuw and captain Nahon.

Indonesia have now won both editions of the AFF Women’s Cup. The first title came during the inaugural tournament in 2024.

The five-goal final also secured a place in the next ASEAN Women’s Championship. Laos finished the competition as runners-up.

Laos finish the tournament as runners-up

Laos reached the final through results earned before meeting Indonesia. Their tournament run placed them in the decisive match. Indonesia then proved much stronger during the second half.

Laos entered half-time one goal behind. Nottet and Loupatty then scored during the first ten minutes after the restart.

Laos still finished the tournament as runners-up. Their earlier results earned a place in the final. Indonesia then created the widest margin of Laos’s campaign.

The finalists left with different rewards. Indonesia retained the trophy after five goals and a clean sheet. Laos received the silver medal after reaching the deciding match.

Indonesia score in both halves

Hopper scored from a crowded penalty area after a corner. Her finish remained the only goal before the break.

Nottet scored three minutes after half-time. Loupatty followed in the fifty-fifth minute and widened the lead.

The trophy remains with the same country for a second edition. Indonesia have now won both AFF Women’s Cup tournaments. That is the strongest factual measure of their current record.
