Robert Lewandowski scores first MLS goals in Chicago Fire win

Robert Lewandowski scored his first Major League Soccer goals during Chicago Fire’s win over Charlotte. The Polish forward found the net twice in his third appearance for the club.
It was also his first MLS match in front of Chicago’s home support. One goal erased an early deficit, while the second completed the comeback after halftime.
The first goal arrived from the edge of the area
Charlotte scored before Lewandowski made his first contribution. Chicago responded by moving the striker into positions just outside the central defence.
In the twentieth minute, Lewandowski received the ball near the edge of the penalty area. His accurate shot produced the equaliser.
The finish showed the range that has supported his scoring record across Europe. He did not require a close-range chance inside the six-yard box.
Chicago then reached halftime with the score level. The home side had recovered without losing its shape or leaving large spaces behind midfield.
Lewandowski remained involved in link play as well as finishing. His movement gave wide players a clear target when they entered the final third.
Charlotte continued to defend the central area after the break. Chicago still found a second decisive chance through its new forward.
Lewandowski scored again in the sixty-eighth minute. The goal moved Chicago ahead and became the winning moment of the match.
His two finishes arrived on either side of halftime. That spread kept Charlotte under pressure during both main phases of the contest.
Chicago protected the lead through the remaining minutes. The team recorded its first victory since the league’s summer pause.
Lewandowski received the match award after the final whistle. The selection followed directly from the equaliser and winning goal.
The home supporters had waited through his first two appearances for a first MLS goal. They saw two during his first Chicago league match.
The result also reduced the pressure around his early adaptation. He now has a completed scoring performance rather than only promising movement.
Chicago signed an experienced scorer on a free transfer
Lewandowski joined Chicago after his Barcelona contract expired. He had spent four seasons with the Spanish club before moving to the United States.
Chicago did not pay a transfer fee for the forward. The club agreed a contract that runs through the 2028 season.
His arrival brought experience from Poland, Germany and Spain. He also entered MLS after years of regular European competition.
The first two Chicago matches did not produce a goal. The third appearance provided a clearer picture of how he fits the attack.
Teammates used him as both a finishing option and a passing point. Lewandowski moved away from the defensive line before attacking the box again.
That pattern supported the first goal from distance and the later finish. Chicago gained different routes from the same central player.
Two home goals ended Lewandowski’s wait
Major League Soccer presents different travel, weather and scheduling demands. Lewandowski entered the competition during an active part of the season.
He had little time to adapt before his first competitive appearances. There was no long preseason before those matches.
The Charlotte match supplied an important reference for both player and team. Chicago won, and its new striker decided the score.
The performance did not depend on one penalty or a late consolation goal. Lewandowski scored the equaliser and then the winner.

Charlotte remained in the match until the end, so Chicago also had to defend its advantage. The home side completed that work after the second goal.
Lewandowski leaves the evening with his first MLS goals and first home win. Chicago leaves it with a successful return from the summer break.
Charlotte scored first and forced Chicago to respond in front of its home crowd. Lewandowski’s equaliser came before the interval.
He received the ball near the edge of the area and completed the move without needing several touches. The finish opened his MLS account.
Chicago entered halftime level rather than behind. That change allowed the team to begin the second half with a simpler match position.
Lewandowski’s second goal came from a different phase. It completed the turnaround after Chicago created pressure closer to the Charlotte goal.
The two finishes showed why the club added an experienced centre-forward. One came from shooting range, while the other rewarded movement inside the attack.
His first two appearances had passed without a goal. The third brought a brace and the first home victory attached to his name.
Chicago needed work from the whole team, but Lewandowski scored the decisive goals. His brace secured the home victory.
