Shak Mohammed scores in the 79th minute as Nashville beat Atlanta 1-0

Shak Mohammed scored the only goal as Nashville SC defeated Atlanta United 1-0 at GEODIS Park. The 79th-minute finish extended Nashville’s regular-season unbeaten run to nine matches. Their record during that sequence is seven wins and two draws.
Alex Muyl and Matthew Corcoran received the assists for Mohammed’s goal. It was the scorer’s second career goal for Nashville and his second against Atlanta in 2026. The result also gave Nashville a fourth consecutive league victory.
The match remained scoreless for 78 minutes
Nashville and Atlanta reached half-time without a goal. The same score remained through most of the second half. Neither side changed the scoreboard during the opening 78 minutes.
Nashville started Sam Surridge for the first time since 7 April. Hany Mukhtar captained the home side, with Mohammed completing the front line. Atlanta started Miguel Almiron as captain and Alexey Miranchuk in midfield.

Mohammed finished the attack in the 79th minute. The goal was listed as a header in the match report. It remained the only scoring action of the night.
Corcoran’s assist was his first MLS assist and first league goal contribution of the season. Mohammed was replaced by Jordan Knight in the sixth minute of stoppage time after completing his decisive contribution.

Schwake made five saves for the shutout
Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake completed five saves. The official match recap recorded the clean sheet as his eighth league shutout of the season.
Schwake has not conceded in either of his 2026 starts against Atlanta. Nashville also completed the season series without allowing Atlanta to win either meeting.
Enea Mihaj received the match’s only listed caution in the tenth minute of second-half stoppage time. Atlanta did not score during the extended final period. Nashville protected the one-goal lead until the final whistle.

Nashville are unbeaten in five of their last six meetings with Atlanta. The latest result added another home win to that sequence. Atlanta left the match with a 3-10-2 season record.
On the same MLS weekend, Son Heung-min scored in LAFC’s 3-0 derby win.
Nashville improved to 11 wins, one loss and three draws. Those numbers kept the club at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings after the long World Cup pause.
